BALCONY

Why do some spaces invite us to speak, while others make us fall silent? Why do high ceilings sometimes feel oppressive, while a small room brings us closer together?
“Balcony” is a contemporary dance experience in which the central protagonist is not only the dancer, but the space itself. Here, movement emerges not only from the body – it is shaped by architecture, distance, glances, and the presence of others.
The performance explores how our surroundings shape our emotional state, posture, and relationship with another person. How does the body change when the space changes? How does the audience become part of what is taking place?
This is not a traditional performance observed from a safe distance. The audience is invited to move freely, to shift their point of view, and to choose their own proximity. At times, the dance unfolds before you. At others, it happens right beside you. And sometimes, you may feel that you have become part of it yourself.
“Balcony” reflects on the boundary between public and private, between observation and participation, between the unfamiliar and the intimate. It is an invitation to rediscover the spaces we inhabit every day, yet rarely truly experience. What stories will we create for one another when space itself begins to affect us?
