DESCRIPTION
Faced with a turning point in fate and history—the occupation of Lithuania—two brothers chose different paths: one became a partisan, the other a collaborator. Between them remained their sister, who loved them both and was loved by them. This is a story from post-war Lithuania, as told by the grandfather of the show’s choreographer, Darius Berulis, unfolding in a space reminiscent of a forest at night—covered in black earth and illuminated by lanterns.
Marking the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian independence, the performance invites us to recognize Lithuania within ourselves. This family drama from the past brings to light universal human experiences: inner conflicts, loneliness, betrayal, and the struggle for one’s values. What would have to happen for your brother, sister, or friend to become a mortal enemy? How do you come to terms with the choices of your loved ones? How do you protect them?
“I am Charlie,” said Paris.
“I am the Mariupol kindergarten,” said Vytautas Landsbergis.
“I am for the sake of that,” said my grandfather.
And who am I?
